Under the direction of Steve Gregory and in a joint effort of the Sandwich Arts Alliance and Score Music Studio, the Annual Ukulele Fest takes place Sunday, March 4th from 3-5 at Sandwich Town Hall, 130 Main Street. $10 donation at the door. Several groups will be performing, and this year’s theme is “#1 Hits” with all musical choices having been #1 on the charts. The festival ends with all groups coming together to lead the audience in a rousing sing-a-long of “Sweet Caroline”.

Hitting the streets of New York City in the 1920’s, the Fox Trot emerged as a lively, bouncing dance which America’s youth went wild over. The Fox Trot was popularized by Harry Fox, a young vaudeville comedian who incorporated a bouncy, trotting step nicknamed the Fox Trot. Today, the Fox Trot has evolved into a dance of social elegance, characterized by smooth, graceful and gliding movements and enjoyed by people of all ages.

Four Wednesday classes: 3/7, 3/14, 3/21, 3/28. History of Ireland-The Rebellions of 1798 and 1828 and the Catholic Emancipation campaign led by Daniel O’Connell. In the second half of the 18th century the ongoing struggle for independence in Ireland was given a huge boost by the French and American revolutions. Sections of the old Protestant Ascendancy now saw an opportunity to run their own country and sought greater independence from Britain. Some even wanted a Republic with religious liberty.
Re-Amping: What? Why And How To! with Jay Sheehan

Night Owl Recordings Academy is presenting a class about the methodology and technique of re-amping, or re-amplification. Presented in association with Cape Cod Sound School, this class will teach you what it is, why you use it, and how to do it correctly. Re-amping is a popular tool and technique used with today’s music recording. We will discuss in detail the tools used, show examples of, and put this technique to use with hands on training. We will have discussion time on what it is to “re-amp” and the equipment used followed by hands on techniques for making this new sound.

Anne Mason is the Executive Director of the Plymouth Antiquarian Society, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing local history. She received her Ph.D. in American history from the University of Delaware in 2015. Her research explores how public commemorations of the colonial past shaped American identity in the early twentieth century. There is no admission fee, though donations will be gratefully accepted. A talk on a black family’s history and their involvement in the Underground Railroad will be held Sunday, March 18, at 2 p.m. at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod in South Yarmouth. The program is sponsored by the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth.
Samuel C. Still III will tell the stories of William Still, who died in 1902 and was called the “Father of the Underground Railroad,” and other family members who rose from slavery to prominence in New Jersey, one as a doctor. Samuel Still has been relating and studying his family history since he was 13.

During the 1980s, Éric Bordelet was once one of the most influential figures in the Parisian wine scene, as he spent several years at the helm of the wine program at the illustrious Michelin Three Star restaurant of l’Arpège in Paris. However, his native Normandy called him, and he handed over his sommelier duties at l’Arpège and returned to the windswept orchards of Normandy in 1992, desiring to bring his superb palate to bear on the high-powered ciders of the region. We’ll be eating oysters au gratin, scallops poached in cider with sorrel, rabbit braised in cider and finish with cheeses.

No experience necessary! A delightful evening is in store with Lees Yunits, our current yoga teacher at the Cultural Center. Lees will offer easy chair yoga movements and guided meditations for transcending busy minds. You will leave feeling refreshed, peaceful and optimistic ~ All levels welcome. Chairs included! Performing tunes from the musical genius of Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, Ray Charles, BB king, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, Otis Redding, Al Green, Bob Dylan and The Beatles, VB and The Buzz mixes a unique blend of Jazz, Blues, Soul and Rock-n-Roll.
